When I was young; the heart was an organ.

Beating its rhythm, louder when I was scared.

To have butterflies in my stomache

it was a stranger to fear like lightning.

One day, that changed - or maybe

it was a metamophosis

a new ship where the old

stood, once upon a time.

Here I was; a thousand days before freedom

looking at neon lights drowing out

every star and kindness there ever was.

Where there was once delicate organs

was a housefire I couldn't escape.
